In south Asian culture, most widows are seen as a curse and shunned from society. Depending on the circumstances, they're often ignored by even their families for fear of spreading their bad luck. widows are still accused of being responsible for their husbands death, and they are expected to have a spiritual life with restrictions which affects them both physically and psychologically. many widows are too old to look after themselves independently but do not receive sufficient support from any one.
Hindus believe that death will free her from the cycle of life and death. she hopes death will save her from being condemned to such a life again.
Our heart as yours is also to work with as many widows as possible as they are in such desperate need. We believe God has spared them in this the twilight years of their lives so they can also be part of this harvest.
The Abishek Ministry is also exploring ways in which we might empower widows in India, God has put on our heart to have a place for widows to be able to come and learn a trade, like sewing and basket making. This would give the widows an opportunity to earn some income for themselves. Our desire would be for them to have some independence if possible. Some widows that are to old or to sick need a place to be cared for.
As God provides we can expand and help as many as possible.
We are praying in the future to build a Ruth Training center for the elder widows to help the most destitute widows, abandoned by families, living in a begging position. This gives them the basic necessities of life, food, shelter, clothing and medial care.
We could also see some of the widows working with needy children, as God never waste anything we see these ministries working hand in hand. The more widows that are saved and trained the more they become part of our work force. We want you to understand what a difference this can make in a widows life. Without family these widows can only hope to find some domestic work to earn a meal. If they are sick or too old they have no help and no hope. Many simply die without help, without food, without Jesus. This should not be so! We may not always remember them but Jesus does.
If God Would so Lead Prayerfully Consider this Ministries.
